Kathleen Cullen Fine Arts presents “Luxury Goods,” a group show organized by Beth Rudin DeWoody that interrogates the obsessive visuality of high-end commodities, consumer culture, and lifestyle both public and private. By recreating high-end retail products and environments by hand, these artists’ works force our reconsideration of value and such purpose of items in a way that isn't likely to happen when browsing the real thing. What are we really paying for: the product, the packaging, the label indulging in a little retail therapy? Come explore. Try on works by Jane Benson, Sandra Bermudez, Libby Black, Brian Burkhardt, John Findysz, Sylvie Fleury, Matthew Day Jackson, MHolland, Marilyn Minter, Takashi Murakami, Carl Pascuzzi, Tom Sachs, Jonathan Seliger, Vadis Turner, Hank Willis Thomas, and Mark Wagner.
Curatoring her second show with Kathleen Cullen Fine Arts, curator and collector extraordinaire Beth Rudin DeWoody is a trustee at the Whitney Museum of American Art, Phoenix House, the Brooklyn Academy of Music and the New York City Police Foundation.
