October 23 - November 29, 2008
Kathleen Cullen Gallery is proud to present the works of Joe Lewis.
Joseph S. Lewis III, dean of the School of Art & Design at Alfred University, received the prestigious New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA) fellowship award on July 3rd, 2008. He is one of 144 artists, out of an applicant pool of 4,500, to receive the distinction.
As a visual and performing artist, Lewis has had numerous solo exhibitions of his work both nationally and internationally for more than two decades. His next exhibition, P.I.E.: Post Industrial Evolution will run from October 23rd through November 29th at Kathleen Cullen Gallery.
Featuring a new series of prints as well as more of his unique photographs, the show will capture the essence of Lewis’s artistic ideals. Packed with poignant social and political commentary, Lewis’s work gracefully combines cultural significance with immaculate technical execution. His mastery of medium allows the conceptual weight of his pieces to emerge out of deceptively effortless shapes and forms and allow his dynamic work to be presented in an accessible viewing experience. Joseph S. Lewis is an extraordinary artist whose work offers an honest look at our reality and also tenders hope for change.
