Jonathan Beer's work represents the overlap of memory, landscape and architecture. Beer is partly inspired by the urban fabric that is the product of the perpetual rebuilding and decay of civilization. Beer's paintings take as their purview the interior world of mental congnition and exterior, observable reality. In related works, the sense of disruption and violence are equally evident. These apocalyptic visions seem to suggest that the images' destructive energy equals the power of mental cognition to hold reality together.
